Tessera is priced per employee per month, ex VAT, billed monthly, with no set-up fee and no minimum term. Every organisation starts with 30 days of every module, free.

How employees are counted
Active employees on your records at the nightly count, never fewer than the plan minimum. Leavers stop being counted the day after they leave. The next invoice follows the latest count.
Your own space in the database
Each organisation's data lives in its own schema of the service database, enforced by PostgreSQL itself, with files stored under a prefix of your own and backups taken daily. Hosted in the UK.
Compliance
UK GDPR data processing agreement included; ICO registered; encryption in transit and at rest; full audit trail. Payroll calculations tested against HMRC's published test data; RTI submissions to HMRC's test service accepted.
